Our Favorite Books: Mrs. McNosh Hangs Up Her Wash

November 9, 2006

Mrs. McNosh is another one of these silly women who make my daughter laugh. In this colorful story by Sarah Weeks (and beautifully illustrated by Nadine Bernard Westcott), Mrs. McNosh starts her day happily doing laundry. She’s so caught up in the her routine Monday morning task that she starts hanging up everything around her on the clothesline to dry. Even the dog, his dish and his bone, among other common household items like the newspaper, the mail and the phone.

Although, best suited for ages 2 and up, this quick poem makes the great use of rhymes and is very melodic. Even your toddler will enjoy it; there’s no doubt in my mind.

Available new on Amazon for $6.99. Be sure to read other moms’ reviews when you’re on the site. You’ll be glad to have decided to add this classic to your little one’s library.
